What is the added value of my translations?

• I pay attention to detail – I’m a bit of a perfectionist in both my private and my professional life, which is why you can rest assured that none of the tiny details of your text will be overlooked;
• I have a degree in the Slovak language – believe it or not, Slovaks, even translators, sometimes get confused by their mother tongue! Whether it’s the infamous “y” vs. “i” problem, putting commas in the correct place or using capital letters, sometimes, we have to admit that mistakes were made. Of course, nobody is perfect, but I guess you could say I do have a bit of a head start here. As a translator who studied Slovak and English, it is true that (for now) I only offer one foreign language, but it also means that I spent five years studying not only English, but also my own mother tongue – Slovak. Therefore, I can guarantee you won’t receive an inferior translation full of grammatical or stylistic mistakes.
• I always work together with a native speaker of English – when working into Slovak, I consult everything that is unclear in the original text with a native speaker of English (and, oftentimes, directly with the client) to ensure the most accurate transfer of the meaning into the target text. When working into English, my cooperation with the native speaker is much more intense, as all my English translations are proofread by my colleague who is duly paid for his work. He not only scrutinises the text looking for grammatical mistakes, but also makes sure there are no discrepancies in the meaning and improves the overall style of the text in order for the translation to “flow” well in English. And what’s best, you don’t pay any extra for his work! It is included in the basic price of the translation;
• I use a professional translation software – working with a CAT (computer-assisted translation) tool means that the format of the text is preserved in the translation process, which can save both the client and the translator a lot of time.

The prices stated below are only indicative. The final price for a translation depends on several factors, such as the source and target languages (EN to SK, SK to EN), length of the text, requested deadline and nature of the text (i.e., its complexity) and it is always agreed upon before the work on the translation begins. The initial offer will be sent to you (free of charge) once you’ve filled out and sent the form.

  • this category includes mainly: popular-science literature, marketing materials (e.g., invitations to events, in which stylistics is key), menus or drink menus, internet websites (e.g., of companies or cultural institutions), etc.
• terminologically demanding scientific or technical texts: from €16/SP
  • this category includes mainly: abstracts/summaries of university theses or scientific articles, CVs, academic literature, medical records, contracts, etc.
• post-editing: from €4/SP
  • based on the level of editing required and the nature of the text
